A letter from our Chairman, Filippa:
So, one semester has passed and another is just about to start. This autumn has been amazing and I’m so happy that you have shared it with us and that you have helped UpF to grow! This spring we have so much more exciting stuff to look forward to!
We start the semester with an extra annual meeting on the 29th of January, to fill the posts made vacant this past month (see more information below). At the same time we say goodbye and give thanks to the members of the board, Emma and Jasmin, who are leaving us to study abroad.
In april UpF is arranging a very exciting trip to Jordania and I hope many of you will have the opportunity to join us. Alongside with this, and all of the interesting lectures and social events that we arrange every month, we will also host one event connected to the fascinating project Whole Earth? per month.
These events will involve a lecture, and following discussion, connected to one of the most important topics of 2015: Sustainability! The lectures will be held by various important names in the field, and will highlight all the different parts of a sustainable future and the ways to get there. These events are a preparation to spread knowledge and gather ideas for the big Whole Earth? exhibition and convent that will be held in Umeå in September.
We start off on the 5th of February with Sarah Cornell from Stockholm Resilience Centre that will give a lecture on the topic “Living within a planetary “safe operating space”? Knowledge, challenges for global sustainability”.
So, my dear friends, we have a more than interesting semester to come, and I hope that you are just as excited as me and the rest of the board! Best regards, and a Happy New Year!
