It’s been a hectic week for all of us, with deadlines, hand-ins, PM’s and what not. It’s also been a week filled with action, at the University and in Umeå as a whole, with so many helping fundraise for Musikhjälpen! UpF’s held a documentary night showing Fire in the Blood, hosted two lectures with Erik Wennerström (The Swedish Crime Survey) and Andrea Mannberg (Umeå School of Business), and half of the board defied the cold weather and volunteered on Tuesday night, during John Kinsman’s (The Department of Public Health and Clinical Medecine) interview on the Studentradio! Together we helped raise more than 1000SEK at our events!

A great thank you to the committees for making these events possible, the Activity committee for baking fika, and the Programme committee for organizing the lecture with Andrea and the interview with John. Despite the stress of studies and deadlines, everyone’s pitched in and with high spirits, making this week a great success! Also a great thank you to all our visitors, for donating to help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, and of course to our lecturers!

Don’t miss the last lecture of 2014 next Wednesday, the 17th of December, with Lennart Söder from KTH (the Royal Institute of Technology) talking about the struggles and possibilities Sweden faces in trying to reach 100 % renewable electricity production. After this lecture the Activity committee invites all members to Julavslutning (christmas party), with fika, a music quiz, photos from the past semester, good company and much more!

Get the impression that the UpF board gets to have all the fun? Want to get in on the fabulous times we’re having? Or do you think that things could be done differently, or that we’ve missed inviting your favorite lecturer? You’re in luck! Our Programme coordinator Jasmin and our Head of PR Emma are heading out into the world for new adventures, and are leaving their seats on the board vacant. That’s right, we’re currently looking for replacements for these posts, so if you’ve been dying to apply for the board and don’t want to wait until May, here’s your chance! Just write an application to valberedning@upfu.org, or email ordf@upfu.org / info@upfu.org if you want to learn more about these posts.
